River North, Chicago luxury apartments are in the middle of a vibrant nightlife and art culture. River North is a eccentric downtown Chicago urban hub.

During the week a thriving professional environment exists with boutique high end retailers lining the streets along with a handful of large office buildings, including the world famous Merchandise Mart. At night and during the weekends River North transforms into a place to be scene with more bars and clubs per capita then anywhere else in Downtown Chicago.

River north is boarded by the Chicago River to the South and West, extends to Michigan “magnificent mile” Avenue to the East and Chicago Avenue to the North.

History

River North was a key location for Chicago’s early roaring development. Post the great Chicago Fire of 1871, like most of the city, River North was rebuilt.

The bend in the Chicago River, was an area of high trade and industrial development. In a short period of time the area was beginning to see development of warehouses, municipal buildings, factories and shipping facilities all meant to serve the Port of Chicago.

The smoke was once so thick in the area from the factories and warehouses working overtime to keep up with the city’s growth that originally River North was called “Smokey Hollow”. The smoke was said to be so thick that it would block the sun!

Current

A subsection of the Near North Side of Chicago, River North is the epicenter of the city’s culture, entertainment and luxury apartment living. With numerous recent highrise developments this section of the city has seen a dramatic increase in the population growth since 1990.

From Spanish Tapas to world famous steakhouses there is a restaurant suitable for any craving one might have. River north is lined with luxurious high-rise rental properties, ultra modern condominium towers and beautiful timber lofted living spaces.

Attractions

Starting at Hubbard Street, there is a stretch of fine bars and restaurants offering great fare and ambiance. This is the best known stretch but heading over to Kinzie and Illinois streets there are more first class clubs and dining establishments that promise to entertain.

The Museum of Broadcast Communications is located on State Street, right next to the world famous Marina City Towers also known as the “corncob buildings”.

Kingsbury Park is a beautifully designed green space that is hugged by the Chicago River to the West. Here a farmers market is found every weekend in the Summer. In the Northern part of River North a section is quickly developing and is being called “New City”. In the Gallery District one can peruse through fine art pieces and galleries of famous and distinguished artists.
